HEAR THE SOLID SOUND
The Wooden Bull mat makes for a big increase in sound quality! The biggest improvement is in the bass, for example standard felt mats are very limited in the bass department, lacking solidity and substance, and this can make the player sound thin. The Wooden Bull mat addresses this area to a remarkable extent, filling in the missing body and adding more natural tone (timbre) in the process. Because the bass is the foundation of the music, the midrange also benefits from this, becoming more sonorous and voluptuous in the process.
HANDCRAFTED
Wooden Bull Audiophile Turntable Mats combine the best qualities of leather and cork to create a superior mat for your turntable. Gluing the leather to the cork serves to completely flatten the leather surface. The flatness of the surface combined with the texture of the leather create a surface that holds your vinyl records firmly and improves drive through the stylus. Gluing the leather to the cork also serves to completely eliminate air pockets that can be present under standard leather mats. These air pockets can result in tiny yet audible pops and clicks on playback.
EASY TO USE
The mat works very well with a record weight. Placing the middle finger of your left hand on the edge of the record and moving the record forwards and backwards you will feel the whole platter move with it. This extra grip combined with the excellent vibration damping provided by the cork are the characteristics that make the Wooden Bull a great addition to any good quality turntable.
The Wooden Bull mat is finished to a high standard, sounds excellent and costs very little. If you have a turntable that allows swapping of mats (and has adjustable arm height) this is quite simply a no-brainer must-buy product.
Slotted onto my resident Rega RP6 turntable there was an obvious improvement to the sound. The walking basslines of Charles Mingus on 'Mingus Ah Um' had a heftier feel to them while the Rega Exact carttridge seemed to be extracting extra detail from the upper registers. Playing the 180gm vinyl pressing of Eleanor McEvoy's 'Yola' there was no doubt the Wooden Bull Mat brings more solidity to the sound. McEvoy's voice had more sparkle to it, the guitar a natural timbre and verve and overall ccohesion is improved". JM
I’ve just bought one and I’m really happy with it. It looks smart (apart from a crease across it but I’m sure that will go with use), has definitely enhanced the bass and has improved slightly the behaviour from some warped records although I think this matt combined with a weight will completely sort that issue. For the record (pun intended) I have installed it in an audio technica LPX120USB.
